Our Mission

Welcome to the Dickens County Appraisal District official Website. It is our mission to provide public information regarding our office and the appraisal process. It is our goal to continue adding details that will keep the public informed in all aspects of the appraisal district. Currently we are working on our mapping system and will be able to provide up to date maps for Dickens County in the near future. We are excited about this website and hope you will explore the many areas which provide information. The Dickens County Appraisal District appraises property for ad valorem taxation of these taxing authorities.

The duties of the appraisal district include: 
  • The determination of market value of taxable property
  • The administration of exemptions and special valuations authorized by the local entities and the State of Texas
 
 
Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities. 
Mineral, utility and industrial accounts are appraised for the district by Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas.
Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised locally by the district.
